EL ALAMEIN, EGYPT / RankWire.AI / – Al Dahra Agriculture Trading and Egypt’s General Authority for Supply Commodities have put into effect a five-year agreement for wheat supply valued at up to US$500 million. This deal transitions Egypt’s 2023 financing structure into a practical import operation. Al Dahra will deliver imported wheat to GASC through financing provided by the Abu Dhabi Exports Office. The agreement outlines the process for purchasing under this existing program.

The signing took place at Egypt’s Cabinet of Ministers building in El Alamein on Aug. 26, 2026, with Egypt’s Supply and Internal Trade Minister Sherif Farouk, who also oversees GASC, present at the event. Khadim Abdullah Al Darei, co-founder and managing director of Al Dahra, was also in attendance. The statement did not specify details regarding wheat quantities, shipment timelines, sources of wheat, or the pricing method for purchases made under this agreement.

The financing framework originated in August 2023 when ADEX and Egyptian authorities established a revolving program for wheat imports. The program was set at US$100 million, with renewals annually over a five-year span, reaching a possible total of US$500 million. The arrangement was initially joined by Egypt’s ministries of international cooperation and finance, working alongside GASC. The 2026 agreement now provides a formal operational platform for GASC to acquire wheat from Al Dahra under this financing plan.

Implementation of the 2023 financing plan

The Abu Dhabi Exports Office (ADEX) is the export-financing branch of the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, offering funding linked to purchases from Emirati exporters. In 2023, the office indicated that its Egypt facility would support wheat and other vital commodities supplied via Al Dahra. This financing scheme established a five-year structure for such transactions with GASC. The current agreement maintains that structure while defining the operational terms for the imported wheat supplies by Al Dahra.

Since entering Egypt in 2007, Al Dahra has operated agricultural projects in Toshka and East Oweinat. In 2023, the company reported cultivating approximately 28,000 hectares within Egypt and delivering over 180,000 tons of wheat to the Egyptian government over the past three years. Recently, Al Dahra announced that its broader agricultural network now serves more than 40 markets globally.

Al Dahra’s Egyptian activities established in 2007

The agreement signed in August 2026 pertains to imported wheat, although Al Dahra also produces agricultural commodities domestically. In 2023, the firm identified itself as Egypt’s largest private producer of wheat and corn, with about 85% of its Egyptian output entering local markets at that time. The current arrangement involves imported wheat supplied to GASC through the ADEX program, distinct from the previously announced US$500 million financing initiative.

This five-year agreement executes the financing plan introduced three years earlier, without establishing a separate US$500 million facility. Neither the total wheat tonnage covered nor the annual shipment schedule, source breakdown, or pricing details have been disclosed by Al Dahra and GASC. As of August 27, 2026, the arrangement remains a five-year wheat supply program valued at up to US$500 million financed through ADEX.
